Bienvenido Mr. Heston – Documental

 

España sirvió como decorado a grandes producciones cinematográficas. ¿Sigue siendo así hoy en día?

Largometraje documental dirigido por Pedro Estepa Menéndez y Elena Ferrándiz Sanz.
En él se analiza el impacto que supuso el rodaje de “El Cid” en Torrelobatón, Valladolid. También se muestran las costumbres del pueblo a través de sus habitantes en la actualidad.

A lo largo del documental, parte del equipo técnico de esta producción de Hollywood recuerda los días de rodaje. Entre otros, el decorador Gil Parrondo, Fraser Heston -hijo de Charlton Heston- y Andrea Bronston -hija del productor Samuel Bronston-.

Esta es la sinopsis del corto dirigido por David Macián, en el cual tuve el placer de hacer la fotografía -exceptuando la secuencia de créditos-, y que tiene en su palmarés reconocimientos como:

– Segundo premio al mejor cortometraje en A nightmare to remember international horror film festival (Estados Unidos)
– Finalista al mejor cortometraje en Certamen de cortometrajes Angelika (España)
– Mención especial del jurado en Festival de cine centrifugado y canalla de Sada (España)

Como reconocimiento técnico llega desde Sacramento Horror Film Fest (EEUU) la nominación a la mejor cinematografía junto a otros 6 títulos: Captura de pantalla 2014-04-10 a la(s) 19.54.49

PUSH UP – Best Cinematogpraphy Award

The famous International Film Festival “Houston Comedy Film Festival” was held last January in Texas.

We received the great news that David Galán Galindo´s last project “Push Up” had been selected among others. A project where I have had the pleasure of performing as cinematographer, working together with renowned artists such as Julián López, Mariam Hernández or Daniel Pérez Prada.

Days later, nominations unveiled, we celebrated “Push Up” overwhelming victory. After competing with more than 400 films, feature films and short films both categories included, our project has been awarded neither more or less than in four categories.:
– Best Short Film: Push up
– Best Actress: Mariam Hernández
– Best Actor: Julián López 
– Best Cinematography: César Maderal

Nominations

Although we could´t attend the Awards Ceremony, On January 31 just being among the final nominates, with such number of projects involved, is already a great recognition of the work done.

Today morning, I got the news. I have been awarded “Best Director of Photography”, amongst 6 nominees within this category. I´d like to appreciate their work, since there are just few festivals rewarding such works.

Also my congratulations to my colleagues who were finally not rewarded and the rest of “Push Up” team, whose support made it all possible. Thank you, I hope to get together again in some future.

Here, I would like to encourage spanish festivals to introduce more awards in technical categories. It is many of us making films possible.

Mombasa Gin

In the month of September, Mombasa Gin was finished its competition of short films with a event held in Palafox cinemas in Madrid where projected the short 25 finalists in its first edition, with a single prize of 10,000 euros for the best short film and only a rule, Mombasa Gin should be part of the story.

The event was a huge success for the brand, filling the room of actors, actresses, directors, Team technical and invited to the screening; a great Organization made to enjoy the evening all participants, presentation and projection of each finalist together to their works and finally artistic Awards:
Best short film (€10.000) – ask me, love
Best director – Luis Sánchez Polack
Best actress – Mariam Torres
Best Actor – William Miller

In this time were lucky to get 3 of 4 distributed Awards, best short, best direction and best actress with the submitted piece ASK ME, LOVE, directed by Luis Sánchez Polack and starring Mariam Torres, in which I had the pleasure of make the direction of photography and produce next to both.

I also want to congratulate the great Alfonso Díaz, friend and companion, by receiving special mention for his short film entitled “On your way to happiness” which Juan Joya “The giggles” starring in all its glory.

Finally, encourage contests and festivals to reward the technical works part, that behind the scenes there are many professionals who should be recognized.

The Herrais & Soto´s agency asked us perform Venca new video for the summer season, a video of 1.30″ approx. which show the new line for this season this was made ​​4 cuts 30″ that allowed us to see each one of the actresses and models wearing different styles of clothing, from bathing suits to street clothes.
